95055COMMITTEE STRUCTURE FOR 1995 GENERAL ASSEMBLY PROPOSED

LOUISVILLE, Ky.--The Committee on the Office of the General 
Assembly will recommend that 17 committees be established to 
process the work of the 207th General Assembly (1995). 
 
     One of the first actions of the Assembly when it convenes in 
Cincinnati on July 15 will be to adopt a committee structure to 
handle the more than 700 items of business that will come before 
it.  Each commissioner will be assigned to one of the committees. 
 
     The proposed committees: 
 
     Bills and Overtures 
 
     General Assembly Procedures 
 
     Church Polity 
 
     Rules of Discipline 
 
     Catholicity 
 
     Pensions and Benefits 
 
     Theological Issues and Institutions 
 
     Christian Vocation 
 
     Global Partnerships 
 
     Mission Priorities and Budgets 
 
     Church Orders and Denominational Programs 
 
     Stewardship 
 
     Educational Mission 
 
     Evangelism 
 
     Social Justice and Peacemaking 
 
     Social Witness Issues 
 
     Racial Ethnic Justice.
