95075AN OPEN LETTER TO ALL PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH (U.S.A.) PASTORS 
 
Dear Colleagues in Ministry: 
 
     Beginning with this issue, you will receive "News Briefs," the 
Presbyterian News Service's summary of the news of the Presbyterian Church 
(U.S.A.) almost weekly. 
 
     Published and mailed each Friday (37 weeks a year), "News Briefs" 
focuses on the national, international and ecumenical life of the 
Presbyterian Church.   
 
     "News Briefs" does not attempt to duplicate the interpretive work 
being done by your congregation, presbytery and synod, but seeks to 
complement those information sources to give you as complete coverage of 
the news of the entire denomination as is humanly possible. 
 
     It is our hope that "News Briefs" will further inform you about the 
whole life of the Presbyterian Church, so that you, in turn, can more fully 
inform your staff, leaders and members about the life of our denomination. 
 
     A few suggestions for achieving this purpose: 
 
     * Make copies and share them with your session (or all members). 
 
     * Use the contents pages as a "church in a minute" bulletin or 
newsletter insert. 
 
     * Excerpt individual articles in your church bulletin or newsletter. 
 
     * Use individual articles as discussion starters in education/issues 
classes. 
 
     * Share appropriate articles with committee chairs for use in their 
ministry. 
 
     We want "News Briefs" to be as informative and useful as possible. 
Please don't hesitate to call or write and let us know how "Briefs" can
