RICHMOND, Va.--The University Senate of the United Methodist Church has
approved Union Theological Seminary in Virginia for the training of United
Methodist ministerial students. The action, taken in late June, came after
a recommendation by the University Senate's Commission on Theological
Education.
PITTSBURGH--Dr. Linda Day will join the faculty of Pittsburgh Theological
Seminary as an assistant professor of Old Testament in the fall. A native
of Minnesota, Day is an ordained minister in the United Methodist Church
through the Minnesota Annual Conference.
PASADENA, Calif.--James D. Guy has been appointed dean of the School of
Psychology at Fuller Theological Seminary, taking office on July 1.
Archibald Hart, dean since 1983, elected to return to research, teaching
and writing. Guy comes to the new post from Biola University, where he was
vice president for university services.
SAN ANSELMO, Calif.--On Sept. 23, the San Francisco Theological Seminary
Auxiliary will present a day-long workshop on the 1995-96 Horizons Bible
study for Presbyterian Women entitled, "Glimpses of Home: Biblical Images
of the Realm of God," in Alexander Hall. Eugenia A. Gamble, author, is the
featured speaker.
LOUISVILLE, Ky.--Three new members have been elected to the board of the
Louisville Theological Seminary, an endowment program for the study of
religion, which recently expanded its focus beyond American Protestantism.
New board members are: Ana Maria Pineda, associate professor of pastoral
theology and director of Hispanic ministry at the Catholic Theological
Union of Chicago; Cyprian Davis, professor of church history at St. Meinrad
School of Theology; and Thomas L. Hoyt, Jr., presiding bishop of the Fourth
Episcopal District of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church.
