95198 FOUNDATION OFFERS "DONOR-ADVISED" FUND
by Jerry L. Van Marter
JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind.--The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Foundation has
established the Steward Fund, a new program that allows a donor to advise
the Foundation each year on how the gift should be spent.
A donor may establish a Steward Fund with a minimum initial deposit of
$50,000. Foundation officials characterize the new program as "a unique
opportunity for the donor to remain involved in the use of the gift"
through "the opportunity to offer requests on how the gift will be used."
While a portion of each Steward Fund must support the mission of the
Presbyterian Church, there is no limit on the number of organizations that
may be supported, as long as their work is consistent with the mission of
the Presbyterian Church. Steward Fund gifts are irrevocable.
Foundation president Larry D. Carr said, "I am excited the Foundation
is now able to provide this new opportunity to support the local, national
and worldwide missions of the church. The Steward Fund allows donors to
respond to the ever changing needs of the church."
More information is available from the Foundation at (800) 858-6127.
