                     Offers One-stop Shopping

LOUISVILLE, Ky.--The long-awaited "PC(USA) Guide to Resources," which lists 
most of  the resources published by the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and 
some selected resources recommended by General Assembly program areas, is 
now available.   
 
     All items listed may be ordered through Presbyterian Distribution 
Service, using a church account, Master Card or VISA. 
 
     The new guide replaces "Connections: A Resource Guide for Church 
Leaders," which was first produced in 1984 as a joint project of the former 
Communications Unit of the United Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A. and 
Presbyterian Publishing House of the Presbyterian Church in the U.S. 
following reunion, with Nancy Heinze and the Rev. James Magruder its 
editors, respectively. 
 
     The front section of the "Guide" includes a list of addresses of where 
to order direct, a "dictionary" of abbreviations used in the text, and an 
alphabetical subject list of contents.  The rest of the book contains an 
aphabetical listing of resources, a video resources list, appendixes 
listing Korean and Spanish language resources and resource centers by 
synod, and order forms. 
 
     The Rev. Arlene W. Gordon, associate for resource center development 
and educational ministry advocates support in the Congregational Ministries 
Division, took on the project soon after assuming her position a year ago, 
and convened a committee in order to get input from all the divisions of 
the General Assembly Council and some program areas, such as PresbyTel, 
that had a particular interest in the project.   
 
     While Gordon coordinated the project, she told Presbyterian News 
Service, "It belongs to all of us." 
 
     "We have mailed the  Guide' to all resource centers," Gordon said. 
"Each division will receive 10 copies, and each commissioner to the General 
Assembly will receive one.   
 
     "We would like to send one to every church," Gordon said,  "and we're 
looking into acquiring cooperative funding in order to accomplish this."   
      
     To be updated annually and eventually available on computer disk, the 
"PC(USA) Guide to Resources" can be ordered for $3 each, or $2.75 each for 
10 or more, plus shipping, by calling (800) 524-2612.  The item number to
