 NEW YORK ---- The National Council of Churches
Executive Board will meet May 21-22 at The
Interchurch Center, 475 Riverside Drive at 120th
Street, New York City.  The meeting will open on
Tuesday (May 21) with worship at 10 a.m. and a
reception at 10:45 a.m. for the Board and all NCC
staff.  Business that day will continue until 9 p.m.
On Wednesday (May 22) the Board will meet from 9
a.m. to 3 p.m.

 Among items on the proposed agenda:

 * Reports from the Rev. Dr. Joan B. Campbell,
NCC General Secretary (11:30 a.m. Tuesday), and from
the Council's officers (9:15 a.m. Wednesday).

 * A report and action on NCC response to the
burning of churches, most of them African American
congregations in the South (9:30 a.m. Wednesday).

 * A presentation by the Council on Native
American Ministries (7 p.m. Tuesday).

 * Reports and actions on NCC finances (2:15
p.m. Tuesday) and NCC communications audit (10:30
a.m. Wednesday).

 * Updates from the Council's two program units
-- National Ministries (4 p.m. Tuesday) and Church
World Service and Witness (2 p.m. Wednesday).  The
latter will include Board action on resolutions on
Nigeria, Full Funding of the United Nations, and
Denial of Public Education for Undocumented
Children.

 * Follow-up on the December 1995 Washington,
D.C., consultation on the NCC's public witness (3:30
p.m. Tuesday).

 The National Council of Churches (National
Council of the Churches of Christ in the U.S.A.) has
33 Protestant and Orthodox member denominations with
a combined constituency of 52 million people.  The
NCC Executive Board, made up of delegates from the
NCC's member churches, carries major responsibility
for program coordination, organizational management
and financial oversight.
