96193 Presbyterian Prayer Breakfast to Precede
Washington Rally for Children
by Jerry L. Van Marter
LOUISVILLE, Ky.--A Presbyterian Prayer Breakfast will precede the "Stand
for Children" rally scheduled for June 1 at the Lincoln Memorial in
Washington D.C. The breakfast will be held at New York Avenue Presbyterian
Church.
Keynote speaker is the Rev. Eileen Lindner, a Presbyterian who is
associate general secretary of the National Council of Churches. The
breakfast program will also include updates on the Presbyterian Church's
work on behalf of children, music by a children's choir and a prayer
service.
Participants will then walk together under a Presbyterian Church
banner to the Capitol Mall for the "Stand for Children," a nonpartisan
rally to highlight the need to improve the lives of children. The rally is
sponsored by the Children's Defense Fund.
The breakfast is sponsored by the Presbyterian Child Advocacy Network
(a constituent organization of the Presbyterian Health, Education and
Welfare Association), the Presbyterian Hunger Program, the Presbyterian
Washington Office and New York Avenue Presbyterian Church.
