TUSCALOOSA, Ala.--Stillman College president Cordell Wynn was presented the
Higher Education Award by the 208th General Assembly (1996) of the
Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) during its annual meeting July 3 in
Albuquerque, N.M. Since 1988, the General Assembly has presented an award
to an individual who has rendered long and distinguished service on the
behalf of the PC(USA) and the denomination's mission in higher education.
Wynn has announced his plans to retire from the college effective June 30,
1997.
DECATUR, Ill.--Holly Smith, director of student activities at Millikin
University, has been appointed treasurer-elect for the Illiana Region of
the National Association for Campus Activities (NACA), a national,
nonprofit membership association promoting the campus activities
professional. After her one-year term, Smith will serve as regional
treasurer for two years. She will serve as a voting member of the regional
steering committee and as conference treasurer.
WOOSTER, Ohio--The College of Wooster has concluded its capital campaign,
Wooster's Campaign for the 1990s, by raising $75.3 million for capital
projects, endowment funds, and operating funds. The final total is more
than $10 million beyond the goal that was set of $65 million. Launched
publicly in 1993 after the building of a nucleus fund by members of the
board of trustees, this was Wooster's most ambitious campaign ever,
according to college officials. Buoyed by a dozen gifts of $1 million or
more, this campaign more than doubled the previous total of $36 million,
which was raised during the early 1980s.
