MISSION INVESTORS: GREATER RETURN
Figures for the second half of 1996 show a rise in rates earned
by investors in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America's
Mission Investment Fund. For the period from July 1 to Dec. 31,
1996, investors will receive the following rates:
MissionTerm investments:
One year 5.8%
Three years 6.3%
Five years 6.5%
Ten years 6.7%
MissionPlus investments: 4.9%
Investment in the fund offers ELCA congregations, organizations
and individuals an opportunity to assist in the mission and
ministry of the church. Money invested makes possible low-
interest loans, primarily to new and developing congregations, to
purchase land, construct or add to buildings, and repair or
renovate where it is needed for ministry to continue. Interest
rates for mission investments are variable. They are adjusted
every Jan. 1 and July 1 to reflect the yield on one, three, five
and 10-year Treasury investments on the day the rates are set.
