     The Social Justice Program Area of the National Ministries Division in 
Louisville has announced the appointment of Colleen E. Bowers of Baltimore 
as interim executive director for the Presbyterian Health, Education and 
Welfare Association (PHEWA) and interim associate for social welfare 
organizations.  Her term runs from Aug. 26, 1996, through Jan. 22, 1997. 
     Bowers, a pediatric nurse and Presbyterian elder, has recently 
returned from a year-and-a-half dual assignment as a Fulbright scholar and 
Presbyterian missionary in Pakistan.  Prior to her appointment as PHEWA 
interim director she was co-convener of Presbyterians Affirming 
Reproductive Options, one of PHEWA's constituent networks.

     An album by Presbyterian recording artist Linda McKechnie that 
combines classical compositions with traditional praise choruses has hit 
the top of the "Billboard" Christian instrumental charts.  The album, 
"Symphony of Praise II," follows McKechnie's earlier album, "Symphony of 
Praise," to the number one spot on the "Billboard" chart.  The earlier 
album spent 60 weeks at number one. 
     McKechnie arranges the music for and plays piano on her albums, which 
fuse ageless classics with recognizable worship medleys.  McKechnie is also 
a notable publisher of handbell music and leader of handbell conferences. 
She is married to the Rev. David McKechnie, pastor of Grace Presbyterian 
Church in Houston.
