HOUSTON--New Covenant Presbytery's annual Christian Leadership School will 
be held Oct. 4-5 at First Presbyterian Church of Houston. 
     Keynote speaker is the Rev. David Peterson, pastor of Memorial Drive 
Presbyterian Church. Workshops both days will address issues of concern to 
church school teachers and other church leaders. 
 
SHAWNEE MISSION, Kan.--The Synod of Mid-America is taking on a new face. 
Commissioners to the 24th annual meeting of the synod earlier this summer 
gave final approval to a new design for the synod, which will take shape 
Jan. 1, 1997. 
     They approved new bylaws, standing rules and a manual of operations 
for the new design created over the last year.  The Rev. John Williams was 
reaffirmed as synod executive and a search committee was named to seek an 
associate synod executive. 
 
PANORAMA CITY, Calif.--Last month 17 members of Chatsworth's St. Stephen 
Presbyterian Church in San Fernando Presbytery embarked on a two-week 
journey to Ecuador to work on mission projects in the village of Et‚n and 
the capital city of Quito. 
     In the Quichuan Indian village of Et‚n, the group installed pipelines 
to bring clean water to each of the village's 107 households.  In the 
afternoons they did arts and crafts and played games with village children. 
In the evenings they gathered with Et‚n's residents for worship and faith 
conversations. 
     In Quito, the group refurbished the "For His Children" orphanage, a 
home for abandoned and at-risk babies. 
     The St. Stephen congregation raised $10,000 to buy the materials 
needed for the work projects, as well as Bibles for the families in Et‚n. 
 
LANCASTER, Pa.--On Sept. 1, the Rev. Thomas E. Robinson began work as 
associate executive presbyter for Donegal Presbytery.  Robinson, a graduate 
of Erskine College in South Carolina and Princeton Theological Seminary, 
has been pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Mendham, N.J.
