TUSCALOOSA, Ala.--Stillman College has officially kicked off its $4.5
million campaign to construct a humanities/communications/fine arts center,
which will be named for the college's current president, Dr. Cordell Wynn.
The Cordell Wynn Humanities/Communications/Fine Arts Center is Stillman's
first new academic facility since Stinson Math-Science Building was
constructed in 1971. The new building will centralize humanities-related
programs that are currently located in six different buildings and will
provide special purpose/multimedia classrooms. The 40,000-square-foot
building will be the anchor building of the campus' new south quadrangle as
indicated on the college's master plan for development. The campaign is
scheduled to conclude in 1998.

GREENVILLE, Tenn.--Tusculum College has received $53,400 as part of a grant
from the U.S. Commerce Department, which recently awarded a
Telecommunications and Information Infrastructure Assistance Program grant
totaling more than $500,000, to be divided among eight participating
members of the Appalachian College Association. Tusculum College will use
its grant to upgrade its computer labs. The grant will also be used to
provide access to the computer labs and the Internet for individuals from
the Greenville community and for local businesses to use in training
employees. An exact schedule of lab hours for the community will be
announced at a later time, after the new equipment has been purchased,
installed and tested.

DANVILLE, Ky.--Centre College's endowment has passed the $100 million mark,
and the school's capital campaign has reached its goal ahead of schedule,
college officials announced recently. Centre had set a goal of reaching
$100 million by the end of the decade, but did better than that because of
a strong year of fund raising and good investment returns, college
president Michael F. Adams said. The Front & Centre capital campaign passed
its $60 million goal 15 months ahead of schedule, said trustee James D.
Rouse, who is chairman of the campaign.

DECATUR, Ill.--Oakland Hall, Millikin University's new four-story,
200-bedroom residence hall, was dedicated Oct. 19 as part of the
university's homecoming activities. Constructed at a cost of $8 million,
Oakland Hall offers a variety of living arrangements, kitchen and lounges
on each floor and common meeting and laundry areas. The building is
air-conditioned and carpeted and offers card-activated security locks.

DUBUQUE, Iowa--The University of Dubuque has announced "New Horizons of
Excellence," a five-year $19.5 million capital campaign. According to J.
Bruce Meriweather, chair of the board of trustees and acting president, the
university has already collected more than $9 million toward the goal,
including four gifts of more than $1 million each. In a dramatic move, the
university punctuated its announcement of the campaign with a ceremonial
ground breaking for a new $.5 million Advanced Technology Centre. Plans for
the new Centre are being finalized. It will provide new classrooms, faculty
offices, a technology center, and a multipurpose auditorium. The building,
which is expected to be ready for students by fall 1998, will be equipped
to incorporate the latest in educational technology. Other specific
projects to be funded by the campaign include a renovation of Goldthorp
Hall and its science facilities, and an addition to the Academic Resource
Center.

KERRVILLE, Texas--Dr. Gary Dill, senior vice president at Schreiner College
since 1991, has been named the new president of McPherson College in
McPherson, Kansas. McPherson is a small, four-year liberal arts college
founded in 1887 by the Church of the Brethren. Dill will assume full
responsibilities there Dec. 1. Dill, an ordained Presbyterian minister and
a former pastor for the Church of the Brethren, has also been active in the
community. He is a former chair of the Texas Arts and Crafts Educational
Foundation board of directors and the Partners in Parenting Education
board, and was director of community service for the Noon Rotary Club of
Kerrville.
