NASHVILLE, Tenn. (UMNS) -- The Rev. Sang Yean Cho, pastor of
Christ United Methodist Church, Oak Grove, Ky., and for three
years editor of the United Methodist Family magazine for Korean-
speaking members, has been named to the staff of United Methodist
Communications (UMCom) here, effective Jan. 1.
In his position as Editor of Korean Language Resources, Cho
will edit the quarterly United Methodist Family magazine that was
launched by UMCom in 1990. He also will edit other Korean-
language resources and produce a monthly summary of United
Methodist information for Korean-American news outlets.
Cho earned his bachelor and master's degrees in theology from
Yonsei University in Seoul and his Master and Doctor of Ministry
degrees from Vanderbilt University Divinity School here.
Ordained deacon and elder in the Tennessee Annual Conference,
he is a clergy member of the Kentucky Conference. In 1996 he was
awarded the Denman Evangelism Award by the former Louisville
Annual Conference, now a part of the Kentucky Conference. Under
his leadership, the Christ Church congregation became self-
supporting, purchased property and built a sanctuary and
fellowship hall. The church is located in a community near the
