Former General Assembly moderator Price H. Gwynn III underwent surgery
for prostate cancer Feb. 6 at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, N.C. A
recuperation period of six to eight weeks is expected.
Gwynn is currently chair of the board of directors for the
Presbyterian Publishing Corporation.

Funeral services were held Jan. 20 at Riverdale (N.Y.) Presbyterian
Church for Charlotte Hostetter, 62, a longtime leader in Christian
education and women's ministries in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). She
was killed in an automobile accident Jan. 16.
Charlotte's husband, the Rev. Donald Hostetter, suffered minor
injuries in the accident. Former director of the Presbyterian Center at
Holmes (N.Y.) and currently coordinator of The Consultants Network for
Presbyterian camp and conference ministry, Donald is moderator-elect of
Hudson River Presbytery.
Charlotte Hostetter is survived by Donald; two sons, Mark and
Jonathan; a grandson, Forest Wolf Neikirk; and a sister, Jackie Lowe.
A memorial fund has been set up for Charlotte at the camp. Gifts in
her memory may be sent to Presbyterian Center at Holmes, 183 Denton Lake
Road, RR1 Box 183, Holmes, N.Y.

Frances Young, wife of longtime Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)
Foundation official Terry Young, died Jan. 26 in Charlotte, N.C., after a
lengthy illness.

Abraham Torres, president of Presbyterian Pan American School in
Kingsville, Texas, since 1990, has resigned, effective Feb. 15. His
service to the school continues until May 23.
Torres, a former member of the General Assembly Council of the
Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) was credited during his tenure at Pan American
with restoring the close ties between the school and the church.
Presbyterian pan American School was founded in 1912 as Tex-Mex
Presbyterian School.
The Pan American board has hired the Rev. Jerry Tomkins as interim
president. Tomkins just retired as president of Presbyterian Childrens'
Homes in Austin, Texas. He has also served the Presbyterian Church as
vice-president of Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary.

The Rev. Timothy A. Dearborn, a Presbyterian Minister, has been named
a director of the Institute for Global Engagement of World Vision
International, the largest privately funded Christian relief and
development organization in the world. He will be responsible for World
Vision's partnerships with churches and educational institutions and the
development of educational programs for World Vision staff and other
organizations.
