NCC SCHEDULE: PRESIDENTS' SUMMIT FOR AMERICA'S
FUTURE
APRIL 26-29 - PHILADELPHIA, PA

 The Rev. Dr. Joan Brown Campbell, General
Secretary of the National Council of Churches (NCC),
and leaders from the NCC's member communions will
participate in the Presidential Summit and attend
other events surrounding the Summit.  The Summit,
aimed at bringing the country to a new level of
commitment to volunteer service benefiting young
people, will be chaired by General Colin Powell and
attended by Presidents Clinton, Bush and Ford.

  Sunday, April 27, 3:30 p.m - 4:30 p.m. -
Ecumenical/Interfaith Service to be held at Mother
Bethel AME Church, 419 So. 6th St. (6th/Lombard).
In keeping with the focus of the Summit on youth,
this interfaith service will highlight children
and youth.  Youth will lead worship, sing and
speak as witnesses.

  Sunday, April 27, 8 - 10 p.m. - A Celebration of
Service to be held at the Pennsylvania Convention
Center will focus on Summit goals and include
entertainment and special guest performances.

  Monday, April 28, 9 - 11 a.m. - Opening Ceremony
with the Presidents and other guests at
Independence Hall; 11:45 a.m. -5 p.m. - Working
lunches and sessions for delegations at
Pennsylvania Convention Center; 7 - 9 p.m. -
Evening festivities at Penn's Landing.

  Tuesday, April 29, 8 - 9 a.m. - Plenary Session at
Pennsylvania Convention Center; 9 a.m.- 12 noon -
Working session; 12-1:30 p.m. - Lunch and Closing
Ceremony.

 Representatives of the community of faith will
be participating in every aspect of the Summit as
panelists and program leaders.  Church
representatives will facilitate congregational
participation in local initiatives.
