TITLE:IRELAND: ST COLUMBA EXHIBITION OPENS
(Church of Ireland Gazette) This year is the 1400th anniversary of the
arrival of St Augustine in Canterbury and the death of St Columba, the
great Irish missionary. An exhibition has just opened in Trinity College
Dublin, which brings together for the first time four of the most
important artefacts associated with St Columba (Columcille). The
Columcille Exhibition features the Cathach (a Psalter, or prayer book,
reputedly written by St Columba himself), its Shrine (a decorated box in
which the Cathach was held), the Book of Durrow and the Book of Kells.
The Book of Durrow and the Book of Kells were made by the monks of the
two abbeys of the same name, in honour of their founder, St Columba. The
exhibition will be open until 15th May.
