BILLINGS, Mont.--Bill Ryan, athletic director of Rocky Mountain College,
has announced his retirement effective July 31. Ryan has been the athletic
director at RMC for seven years. A replacement has not yet been named. Bart
Andrus, head football coach, who aided RMC in achieving its first winning
season after 41 losses, has accepted a position with the Houston Oilers.
Filling the position of head football coach is Jeff Lewis, who served as
assistant coach this past year. Lewis indicates that things will be much
the same and that he's looking forward to an exciting year.

CLARKSVILLE, Ark.--Dr. Richard Niece of Canton, Ohio, has been selected as
president of the University of the Ozarks by the private college's board of
trustees. He will assume duties July 1. Niece is interim president of the
Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio. In 1987, Niece went to Walsh
University as an assistant professor in the teacher preparation program,
then as assistant academic dean. In 1992, he became academic dean. In
1993, he was named provost and vice president for academic affairs. He
became executive vice president in 1995 and interim president in October.
Before 1987, he was an assistant professor and special assistant to the
dean at Kent State University, where he received master and doctor of
philosophy degrees. His undergraduate degree is in English from Ohio State
University.

HASTINGS, Neb.--Hastings College has unveiled plans for its $24.5 million
capital campaign, "Building on Tradition for the 21st Century." The
campaign, which is scheduled for completion in mid-2001, was announced in
conjunction with the annual spring meeting of the Hastings College board of
trustees. More than 39 percent of the $24.5 million total has already been
raised, said Roger Doerr, president of the Hastings College Foundation.
Goals of the campaign are $8 million for the annual fund, to provide
financial resources for student scholarships and other operating activities
of the college; $3 million to provide endowed scholarship for deserving
students; and $6.6 million to construct, renovate and maintain campus
buildings. Money raised thus far has funded the $1.6 million Wilson
Mathematics and Computer Science Center as well as the $275,000 renovation
of the French Memorial Chapel.

DANVILLE, Ky.--The Matsushita Home Appliance Corporation of America (MAC),
which has a major facility in Danville, has given a $50,000 gift to the
Front and Centre Campaign at Centre College. An April 17 appearance by the
prestigious Emerson String Quartet was the first performance to benefit
from the gift. MAC made the $50,000 commitment to establish a Matsushita
Endowment at the college's Norton Center for the Arts. Earnings from the
endowment each year will help support one performance in the Musica de
Camera series at the Norton Center.
