HASTINGS, Neb.--Hastings College has unveiled plans for its $24.5 million
capital campaign, "Building on Tradition for the 21st Century." The
campaign, which is scheduled for completion in mid-2001, was announced in
conjunction with the annual spring meeting of the Hastings College board of
trustees. More than 39 percent of the $24.5 million total has already been
raised, said Roger Doerr, president of the Hastings College Foundation.
Goals of the campaign are $8 million for the annual fund, to provide
financial resources for student scholarships and other operating activities
of the college; $3 million to provide endowed scholarship for deserving
students; and $6.6 million to construct, renovate and maintain campus
buildings. Money raised thus far has funded the $1.6 million Wilson
Mathematics and Computer Science Center as well as the $275,000 renovation
of the French Memorial Chapel.
DANVILLE, Ky.--The Matsushita Home Appliance Corporation of America (MAC),
which has a major facility in Danville, has given a $50,000 gift to the

prestigious Emerson String Quartet was the first performance to benefit
from the gift. MAC made the $50,000 commitment to establish a Matsushita
