Seven new churches receive Walton Grants

GA97008 SEVEN NEW CHURCHES RECEIVE WALTON GRANTS 
 
SYRACUSE--The National Ministries Division has announced the winners of 
Walton Grants as the outstanding new church developments in the 
Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).  Each winner will receive $30,000. 
 
 The grants come from a $6 million endowment established in 1991 by 
Helen and the late Sam Walton, founders of Wal-Mart.  Half of the endowment 
was earmarked for support of new church development in the denomination. 
 
    This year's award-winning new church developments are: 
 
    * The Church of the Hills, Duluth, Ga. (Greater Atlanta Presbytery) 
    * Iglesia Presbiteriana Sion, San Sebastian, P.R. (Northwest 
      Presbytery) 
    * Korean Presbyterian Church of Pinellas County, St. Petersburg, Fla. 
      (Tampa Bay Presbytery) 
    * North Lakeland Presbyterian Church, Lakeland, Fla. (Tampa Bay 
      Presbytery) 
    * Oak Ridge Presbyterian Church, Oak Ridge, N.C. (Salem Presbytery) 
    * Santa Fe New Church Development, Edmond, Okla. (Indian Nations 
      Presbytery) 
    * South Bay Presbyterian Church, Torrance, Calif. (Pacific Presbytery)
