Be Available in Many Different Ways
by Jerry L. Van Marter
LOUISVILLE, Ky.--In addition to the traditional print publications --
"Assembly in Brief," the "General Assembly News Wrap-up" and "Presbyterians
Today" -- news and information about the upcoming 209th General Assembly in
Syracuse, N.Y., will be available this year by telephone, computer, fax,
videocassette and satellite television.
Before the General Assembly
Previews of the General Assembly, which will take place June 14-21,
will appear in the June issue of "Presbyterians Today." The July/August
issue of the magazine, recently named the best denominational magazine in
North America by the Associated Church Press, will include a summary of the
Assembly in words and color photographs. For subscription information,
call 1-800-524-2612.
"NEWS BRIEFS," the weekly publication of the Presbyterian News
Service, will also include preview news about the Assembly before meeting
and summary news afterward. Each pastor receives a copy of "NEWS BRIEFS,"
which will soon include a bulletin insert in each issue.
A variety of Assembly-related information is available on PresbyNet,
the church's computer communication network, in such meetings as "209TH GA
INFO", "209TH GA OVERTURES", "209TH GA DISCUSSION" and "PRESBYNEWS". To
sign up for PresbyNet, call 1-800-872-3283.
