Georgia two-year college receives
$7.5 million bequest
by United Methodist News Service
Officials at United Methodist-related Andrew College,
Cuthbert, Ga., announced Aug. 11 that the school will receive a
$7.5 million bequest, the largest gift ever given to the two-year
liberal arts college.
The gift is from the estate of the late Gertrude Castellow
Ford, a 1933 graduate and widow of U.S. House of Representatives
member Aaron Ford.
Andrew College has 25 faculty members and 300 students. Last
October the college received a $1 million gift from Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Hord.
While use of the Ford bequest has not been decided, "A gift
of this magnitude re-positions Andrew's presence in the state and
sets the stage for tremendous enhancements that will benefit the
student, the community and the region," said college President
Kirk Treible, in a story in the Wesleyan Christian Advocate.
