    Covenant People Design Team 
    Conference Is Pending

LOUISVILLE, Ky.--Sixty people from all over the country will gather here 
Aug. 25-29 to work on the design of  Covenant People, the new Presbyterian 
plan for Christian nurture, according to officials in the Congregational 
Ministries Division (CMD). 
 
    The design team includes a broad cross section of Presbyterians who are 
meeting with the goal of providing an educational plan and resources that 
congregations both need and want, according to the Rev. Eunice B. Poethig, 
CMD director. 
 
    Poethig said Covenant People will be more than a curriculum and will 
offer a wide variety of resources for all ages for Bible study, 
discipleship and spiritual growth, Christian beliefs, leadership and 
ministry. Additionally, Poethig told the Presbyterian News Service, it will 
include resources cooperatively produced with many of the program areas 
(such as Stewardship, Peacemaking, Evangelism, etc.) at the 
Louisville-based Presbyterian Center. 
 
    "At the heart of Covenant People is a renewed commitment to spiritual 
formation and being God's people in these troubled but exciting times," 
Poethig said. "The design team will consider just what biblical narratives, 
beliefs, skills, and spiritual disciplines being God's covenant people call 
for." 
 
    The CMD has been gathering information from congregations across the 
country on what they want in curriculum and resources. If you have received
