MARYVILLE, Tenn.--Karen E. Beaty, a 1994 graduate of Maryville College, has
been named director of alumni and parent relations at the college. In
additional reorganization of the development office at the college, Elton
Jones, vice president for advancement, announced, Mark E. Cate, formerly
director of alumni and parent relations, has been named director of
development and alumni affairs, and Anna Beasnett Graham, former director
of annual giving, is now director of campaigns and principal giving.
JAMESTOWN, N.D.--Jamestown College has been awarded a $25,000 grant from
the Charlotte W. Newcombe Foundation of Princeton, N.J., to provide
scholarships to students in the 1997-98 academic year. The college has
received a total of $325,000 for Newcombe scholarships since 1983.
PORTLAND, Ore.--The Rev. Mark Duntley, chaplain at Lewis & Clark College,
has been promoted to dean of the chapel. In addition to his work as
spiritual counselor, Duntley will work with other clergy and religious
leaders to assist the various faith communities at the college. With the
help of an interfaith council, Duntley will develop a program in the
noncurricular study of religious and social issues. He will also coordinate
a regular schedule of concerts in Agnes Flanagan Chapel. Duntley received a
doctor of philosophy degree from Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley,
Calif., in 1988, a master of divinity degree from San Francisco Theological
Seminary in 1980, and a bachelor's degree in psychology from University of
Washington in 1977.
