Notes about People
by Jerry L. Van Marter
Frank Borchert, 61, former moderator of Western Reserve Presbytery and
vice president for budgets and planning for Case Western Reserve University
in Cleveland, died Sept 11 at home after a yearlong struggle with cancer.
He was the husband of the Rev. Catherine Borchert, former coordinator for
the Advisory Committee on Social Witness Policy of the General Assembly.
In addition to moderating Western Reserve Presbytery, Borchert served
as chair of the presbytery's Mission Council and as chair of its Justice
for Women Committee. He also served on the commission that restructured
the Synod of the Covenant. He was an active member of Fairmount
Presbyterian Church in Cleveland Heights, where he served as clerk of
session and sang in the choir for more than 30 years.
Services have been tentatively scheduled for the evening of Sept. 17 at
Fairmount Church at the time when the choir normally rehearses.
