Joan SalmonCampbell, former General Assembly moderator, has renounced
the jurisdiction of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). SalmonCampbell's
renunciation of her Presbyterian ordination came after she started her own
church in the neighborhood of the Presbyterian congregation, St. Marks,
that she was serving in Cleveland, Ohio. Several members of St. Marks have
defected to join her new church, which she started without the consent of
Western Reserve Presbytery. The renunciation means that SalmonCampbell,
who was General Assembly moderator in 1989, is no longer a Presbyterian
minister.

The Rev. Samuel Habib, general secretary of the Coptic Evangelical
Organization for Social Services (CEOSS) in Cairo, Egypt, died of a heart
attack Oct. 7 in Los Angeles. Habib was in the United States for a series
of meetings with Presbyterian partner organizations that work with CEOSS.

Marion Liebert, administration coordinator for the Office of the
Executive Director of the General Assembly Council, has announced her
retirement from that post, effective Dec. 31, 1997. She has served on the

Liebert will be succeeded on Dec. 1 by Ann Mulcahy, currently associate
for training for the Human Resources Management office at the Presbyterian
