LUTHERANS LEARN TO SHARE FAITH
The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America has
produced two resources, "Connections: Faith and
Life" and "Sharing Your Faith with Friends,
Relatives and Neighbors," designed to help adults
be "faith-sharing Christians" every day of the
week. The resources focus on the relationship
between faith and life by connecting day-to-day
experiences with church ministry. Each resource
contains a group leader package and participant
books which can be used for small group study in a
home or church setting. Sessions are designed to
build a sense of support and community through
personal sharing and discussion. The resources
are available through Augsburg Fortress,
Minneapolis, the publishing house of the ELCA.
They were introduced at "Sharing Your Faith and
Living Your Faith," a series of one-day leadership
seminars sponsored by the ELCA's Division for
Congregational Ministries and Division for
Ministry. The seminars "combined evangelism and
ministry in daily life," said the Rev. Marta
Poling-Goldenne, associate director for
evangelism. "Participants looked at new ways to
live and share their faith with others in daily
life," she said. The seminars included
presentations by lay and clergy leaders in the
ELCA, worship and workshop sessions. Twenty-five
seminars were held this fall in the United States.
