    New Presbyterian Resource on Gender 
    Discrimination and Gender Justice Is Available

LOUISVILLE, Ky.--The Presbyterian Peacemaking Program along with the Office 
of Women's Advocacy in the Women's Ministries Program Area has published 
"When We Are All Strong Together: Understanding Gender Discrimination, 
Building Gender Justice," a new 160-page study and action guide on women's 
issues. 
 
     The resource provides an in-depth analysis of gender issues written in 
everyday language. According to program officials, the document is designed 
for adults and youth and can be used in study groups, in workshops, or in 
individual study. 
 
    The resource also addresses a variety of issues and topics, including 
the Fourth World Conference on Women held in Beijing in 1995, women's human 
rights, violence against women, women and the media, girls and women, and 
economics. 
 
    "[This new resource is] a great follow-up to the Ecumenical Decade of 
Churches in Solidarity with Women," commented the Rev. Joan Brown Campbell, 
general secretary of the National Council of Churches of Christ (NCC). 
 
    "It is the best resource to date on the Beijing Women's Conference," 
said Rebecca Todd Peters, a Ph.D. candidate in Christian Ethics at Union 
Theological Seminary in New York and founder of the National Network of 
Presbyterian College Women. 
 
    Diana Lim of San Jose, Calif., Presbyterian Women moderator, said the 
resource is a must "for all who wish to give heart, hands and voice to the 
Platform for Action adopted at the Fourth World Conference on Women." 
 
    "When We Are All Strong Together: Understanding Gender Discrimination, 
Building Gender Justice" is obtainable from Presbyterian Distribution

70-270-97-020. The document costs $10 for a single copy and $9 each for 
orders of 10 or more, plus shipping.
