INVITATION TO THE PRESS
1998 Meeting of the LWF Council, Geneva, Switzerland

The newly elected Council of the Lutheran World Federation (LWF) will hold
its first full meeting 7-18 June 1998 in Geneva. The Council will decide,
among other matters, on the endorsement of the Lutheran-Roman Catholic
Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Justification. Also on the agenda, are
the first four-day meetings of the Program Committees for Theology and
Studies, Mission and Development, World Service, Finance and
Administration, and Communication Services, as well as the Standing
Committees for Ecumenical Affairs and for International Affairs and Human
Rights. These committees will make their recommendations to the Council for
decision.
