BASEL, Switzerland/GENEVA, March 10, 1998 (lwi) - The four Protestant aid
agencies in Switzerland, "Bread for All" (BFA), "Swiss Inter-Church Aid"
(HEKS), "Cooperation of Protestant Churches and Missions" (KEM) and the
Departement Missionnaire (DM) agreed Feb. 7 to closer future cooperation
under a joint board.

The board will be permanently introduced and confirmed in a significant
role after a trial period of four years, according to a KEM press release.

The already existing cooperation in the area of women and development,
information, joint project service and "Films for One World" must "not
blind us to the fact that the path toward a true merger of the agencies
will not be without obstacles", the press release says.

The agreement was reached after ten years of discussion.
