AUSTIN- Four senior fellowship awards to assist in further education were
presented to four Austin Theological Seminary students last month.
Victoria Bethel of Amarillo, Texas, received a grant of $2,000 through the
Janie Maxwell Morris Fellowship; Ann Fields of Austin, a $2,500 grant from
the W.P. Newell Memorial Fellowship; David Gambrell of Baton Rouge, La., a
$5,000 grant through the David L. Stitt Fellowship; and Dieter Heinzl of

promise for ministry.

NEW YORK CITY- Three women will be honored by Auburn Theological Seminary
for commitments that embody faith in action at the second annual "Lives of

Thomas, who will be honored for her advocacy for children, particularly
those with catastrophic illnesses, is the keynote speaker. Other honorees

SAN ANSELMO, Calif.- San Francisco Theological Seminary (SFTS) has already
exceeded its Annual Giving fund-raising goal for the 1997-98 fiscal year,
according to President Donald W. McCullough. McCullough said the
seminary's goal was $810,000 by June 30, 1998 but that the seminary had
reached $821,000 as of Dec. 31, 1997. "This increase in giving comes at a
time of great challenge and great opportunity for SFTS," McCullough said.
"Enrollment in our master of divinity program is rising and we must provide
both the facilities and financial assistance to meet this increase. And,
we're facing the significant challenge of raising funds to retrofit and
re-open our two oldest campus buildings, Montgomery and Scott halls."

PRINCETON, N.J.- The board of trustees of Princeton Theological Seminary
has announced the appointment of the Rev. Jeffrey V. O'Grady as dean of

O'Grady is presently the school's director of vocations and admissions, a
position he has held since August 1995. In other actions, Nancy Oliver
Gray, now vice president of development and university relations at Rider
University, was appointed vice president for seminary relations, effective
July 1, and Stephen Cardone, the seminary's director of housing, was named
director of housing and auxiliary services.

LOUSIVILLE, Ky.-Former Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary (LPTS)
president Albert C. Winn was given the first Honorary Alumni/ae Award given
by the seminary during its annual presentation of distinguished alumni/ae
awards, Feb. 1-4. A former moderator of the Presbyterian Church in the
U.S., Winn served as professor of doctrinal theology at LPTS, becoming
president of the institution in 1966. He continued to teach until his
retirement in 1973 and served as visiting professor of theology in 1988.
The honorary award was established last year to recognize individuals with
outstanding service to the institution's mission. Distinguished Alumni/ae
Awards went to the Rev. George Wilson Gunn, '50; John L. Rhea, '38; and
