For Immediate Release: 23rd April 1998
We live in a society where confused amalgamations of spirituality are
the norm. Nobody is doubting Eileen Drewery's sincerity, but it is
clear that her 'faith healing' is not in accordance with traditional
Christian healing performed in the name of and through Jesus Christ.
Christian healers do not possess any special powers, other than the
ability to pray in accordance with Jesus's model of ministry and that
of the Early Church.
Within the Evangelical Alliance, which seeks to reflect the views of
more than a million church-goers from 30 denominations, there are
clergy who have had to counsel people who have suffered spiritual and
psychological harm as a result of involvement with seemingly innocent
supernatural activities not centred on Jesus Christ.
