Press Release 14.9.98
Major Christian mission kicks off with live Internet chat
A live internet chat site has been set up for people to put
questions of faith to world famous Argentinian evangelist Luis
Palau, to launch his evangelistic mission to the East Midlands
and South Yorks later this week.
Luis will respond to questions live over the internet on Sunday
September 20th, from 4pm-5.30pm at the website
http://www.churchnet.org.uk/palau The website will then be open
for people to post questions to Dr Palau for the rest of the
three week mission.
It is thought to be the first official Internet Mission in the UK
and will be the first time Dr Palau, who has preached to around
12 million people in 66 countries, has been involved in online
evangelising as part of one of his missions.
Dr Palau said: "It's fitting that the Internet should be used to
communicate what still remains to be one of the most relevant
debates for our world today - Was Jesus Christ who he said he
was? And did he rise from the dead?"
ChurchNet UK who have provided the site said: " To have a world
famous evangelist like Luis Palau using a live chat site in this
way, is groundbreaking."
It is hoped that up to 40,000 people will attend the mission,
which is being supported by 500 local churches, and kicks off in
Ilkeston, near Derby. It then moves on to Boston, Grimsby,
Mansfield, Grantham, Lincoln and Barnsley.
