    Frank Diaz Is First Candidate For 
    1999 General Assembly Moderator

LOUISVILLE, Ky.-He's baaaaaaack! 
 
    On Sept. 10, Grace Presbytery endorsed the Rev. Frank Diaz to stand for 
moderator of the 211th General Assembly next June in Fort Worth, Texas. 
 
    Diaz, 65, retired in mid-August after serving for two years as interim 
executive director of the General Assembly Council in Louisville.  Prior to 
that he was associate director for GAC administration for seven years. 
 
    He and his wife, Shirley, moved to the Dallas area when they retired 
last month. 
 
    Diaz entered the Presbyterian ministry after a long business career in 
Texas.  He is a graduate of Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary and 
served pastorates in Texas prior to joining the national staff of the 
denomination in 1989. 
 
    Diaz is the first announced candidate for moderator.  The Assembly will 
be held June 19-26, 1999.
