Presbyterian News Service Hires New Reporter
by Jerry L. Van Marter
LOUISVILLE, Ky.-The Presbyterian News Service (PNS) of the denomination's
Office of Communication has hired Evan Silverstein, a veteran newspaper
reporter, to serve on its staff beginning Nov. 16.
Silverstein, 32, succeeds Julian Shipp, who resigned in September to
take a position as associate for promotion with the Mission Interpretation
and Promotion Program Area of the Congregational Ministries Division in
Louisville.
Silverstein, a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a degree in
journalism, has worked as a reporter for the Lexington (Ky.)
"Herald-Leader, the Louisville "Courier-Journal" and the Elizabethtown
(Ky.) "News-Enterprise." At the latter newspaper, he was a staff colleague
of Shipp's.
For the past three years, Silverstein has run his own public relations,
writing and design consultant firm, E.S. Graphics & Writing Company. In
addition to his reporting skills, he is a professional photographer.
Silverstein is single. He worships at Keneseth Israel Synagogue in
Louisville.
