    PHEWA Seeks Ministry Award Nominees

LOUISVILLE, Ky.-The Presbyterian Health, Education and Welfare Association 
(PHEWA) is seeking nominees for its four General Assembly ministry awards. 
 
    The annual awards are sponsored by three of PHEWA's constituent 
networks and are presented at each year's General Assembly during the 
"Partners in Mission for Christ" awards ceremony.  The 1999 General 
Assembly is June 19-26 in Fort Worth, Texas. 
 
    The awards for which nominees are being sought are: 
 
   *   The Community Ministries and Neighborhood Organizations (COMANO) 
Award recognizes a community ministry that has been faithful and creative 
in its ministry to the community. 
   *   The Urban Presbyterian Pastors' Association (UPPA) Award recognizes 
the ministry of an urban congregation that has strengthen its congregations 
and/or served its neighborhood. 
   *    The Dave Hancock Award of the Presbyterian Network on Alcohol & 
Other Drug Abuse (PNAODA) goes to a church or church professional who has 
been involved in drug/alcohol related issues in a professional or 
leadership capacity. 
   *   PNAODA's Margaret Fuad Award is for a layperson who as a volunteer 
or activist has been instrumental in getting the church and/or community 
involved in issues related to drug and alcohol abuse - either education, 
awareness or treatment. 
 
    Nominations must include the name of the ministry or person being 
nominated, address, phone number, contact person, and a two page 
description of the nominee. 
 
    Nominations should be mailed or faxed to PHEWA, 100 Witherspoon St.,

nominations is Feb. 28, 1999.
