Seminary, served congregations in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania,
and served as a chaplain in the U.S. Air Force.
From 1961 through 1972, he served the Synod of Pennsylvania as
assistant to the synod executive, director of public relations and
permanent clerk. He served as stated clerk and treasurer for the Synod of
the Trinity from 1972 through 1985. After his retirement he served as
interim stated clerk for the Presbytery of Philadelphia, and for a short

Former General Assembly moderator Marj Carpenter has suffered a setback
in her recovery from a broken leg sustained in a fall at her home in
November.
Doctors have discovered that metal rods and pins inserted in
Carpenter's broken right femur to hasten healing have slipped, and she will
need surgery to reinsert the hardware properly. She is expected to be laid
up at least until April.
During her convalescence, Carpenter will be staying with her son, Jim
Bob, in Sarasota, Fla. She may be contacted at 4594 Camino Real, Sarasota,
FL 34231. The phone number is 941-922-6486.

Margaret E. Gurecky, the mother of a gay son, was recently named
director of Presbyterian Parents of Gays and Lesbians (PPGL). The
organization was formed in 1994 as a pastoral-care ministry within the
Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), to provide support for mothers and fathers
who are struggling to understand and affirm their homosexual children.
Gurecky, a professional educator and a lifelong Presbyterian, is a
former vice president of PPGL's board of directors. She and her husband,
Milton, are members of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Flower Mound, Texas.
Gurecky succeeds Jane C. Loflin of Dallas, the PPGL founder, as
director. Loflin retired in December.
