    NCC Delegates Sought

    by Jerry L. Van Marter

LOUISVILLE, Ky.-The ecumenical relations department of the Office of the
General Assembly is seeking the names of persons to serve as Presbyterian
delegates to the National Council of Churches. The delegation will be
elected at the 1999 General Assembly in Fort Worth, Texas.

According to the Rev. Theo Gill, "We hope to include a number of youth
and young adults who have been active in ecumenical affairs."

Gill said the primary responsibility of delegates is to attend the
annual three-to-four-day General Assembly of the National Council, normally
held in November. Each delegate's term is four years. If a delegate
volunteers to serve on a committee of the Council, there may be additional
meetings to attend, he added.

Names of nominees not elected for service in 1999 will be kept on file
and considered for other areas of ecumenical service over the next three
years.

For more information about how to nominate one's self or another
person, call (502) 569-5360. Completed forms must be submitted to the
Office of the General Assembly by Dec.31, 1998.
