TRINITY LUTHERAN SEMINARY UNVEILS HOLOCAUST "REMEMBER" PROJECT

     CHICAGO (ELCA) -- Trinity Lutheran Seminary, Columbus, Ohio, breaks
ground Feb. 14 for "Promise for Life," a project memorializing the
Holocaust -- the systematic annihilation of millions of Jews and other
"undesirables" by the Nazi regime and its collaborators during World War
II.  Trinity is a seminary of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America
(ELCA).
     The "Promise for Life" project began two years ago, inspired by a
guest lecture sculptor and Holocaust survivor Alfred Tibor gave at the
seminary.
     The project includes a plaza to be paved with donated bricks bearing
the word "remember" in various languages.
     "Remember" is a banner word for the Jewish people, said Sam Horowitz
of the Columbus Jewish Federation and a member of the project's planning
committee.  "For all people, it is both a call to reflect upon what has
happened to their own people as well as to remember what their people may
have done to others," he said.
     "It reminds the world that we must not forget the lessons of the
Nazi Holocaust," said Ward Cornett, director of continuing education at
Trinity and a member of the project's planning committee.
     An interfaith group of religious leaders will be on hand for the
groundbreaking ceremony, including the Rev. Dennis A. Anderson, president
of Trinity Lutheran Seminary; Monsignor Joseph N. Fête, St. Joseph
Cathedral; Pete Krajnak, Feinknopf Macioce Schappa Architects; Rabbi
Arthur P. Nemitoff, Temple Israel; Alfred Tibor; and Dr. Leon Troy, pastor
emeritus of Second Baptist Church.
