Viscount Brentford has been elected chairman-elect of the 
Evangelical Alliance's new Executive Board, which will take over 
responsibility from the current Executive Committee later this year.

Mark Birchall, chairman of the Executive Committee since 1991, 
will retire in September.  Until then the two men will work alongside 
each other in a transitional Executive.

Viscount Brentford said: "It will be an interesting and challenging 
task to help steer what is already a very efficient management 
group through the next stages of its development".

 Rev Robert Amess, chairman of the Alliance's Council of 
Members, commented:  "This is a significant appointment that will 
enable the intricate and complex work of the Executive to continue 
its support, enabling the Evangelical Alliance to carry on its 
important and exciting agenda."

Rev Joel Edwards, general director of the Evangelical Alliance 
added: "Viscount Brentford will bring a great deal of experience and 
wisdom to the new board at an important time in the Alliance's 
history."
