PRESS CONFERENCE CALLING NOTICE
Friday 5th March, 10:30am

The Alliance of Asian Christians, a Birmingham based umbrella
group for Britain's 45,000 Asian Christians and 200 churches, has
organised a March of Silent Witness in central London on Saturday
March 6th. 2,000 Christians are expected to take to the streets for
the silent march which will pass the Indian High Commission in
Aldwych. Later, a multi-cultural prayer vigil will be held in
Westminster.

In India's first 50 year's of independence there were just 50
incidents of persecution against Christians. In the last 10 months
there have been 113 atrocities, including the burning alive of an
Australian missionary and his two sons, nuns being raped, priests
being attacked and churches burnt.

March organiser Pradip Sudra, executive director of the Alliance of
Asian Christians, will give a press conference at 10:30am on Friday
5th March at the Evangelical Alliance Conference Centre, 186
Kennington Park Road, London, SE11 4BT (Nearest tube:
Kennington, Northern Line).

On Saturday, marchers will begin to gather in Lincoln's Inn Fields
from noon and the march will start at 1:00pm. They will progress
along Sardinia Street, into Kingsway and onto Aldwych. They will
pause for prayer outside the High Commission while a letter of
protest is delivered and then continue onto the Strand, Arundel
Street and the Embankment.

At 3:00pm a multi-cultural prayer vigil will be held at Emmanuel
Christian Centre, Marsham Street in Westminster.

For further information or to request an interview with Pradip Sudra,
contact Gavin Drake on 0171-207 2117 or Jill Howard on 0171-207
2116.
