1999 YEARBOOK AN INVALUABLE TOOL FOR LOCAL CHURCH MINISTRY
NEW YORK, March 5 ---- The 1999 Yearbook of American
and Canadian Churches is a valuable resource for local
church ministry, as well as for researchers and scholars,
denominational and ecumenical leaders, seminary and public
libraries, journalists - in short, anyone who has anything
to do with religion.
Here are just some ways that local ministries can use
the 1999 Yearbook:
* You want to send relief to disaster victims in another
state. You locate the name and contact numbers of that
state's ecumenical or interfaith council, which tells you
what's needed and where.
* You want to establish or update your youth ministry. You
can make contact with 40 ecumenical agencies who can provide
information on what works. The 1999 Yearbook includes a
similar index to homelessness/shelter ministries, interfaith
dialogue and faith and order.
* You want to help a young church member pursue a vocational
call. The Yearbook provides a complete listing of schools
and seminaries with denominational affiliations along with
many interdenominational seminaries.
* You want to increase per capita giving in your church.
The Yearbook provides the pattern in your denomination and
in others.
* You are looking for help with church management,
liturgical renewal, church growth and evangelism, justice
and relief ministries, stewardship, conference management or
any number of ministry-related needs. You thumb through the
Yearbook's directory of U.S. and Canadian cooperative
organizations for sources of help.
* You want to plan an interfaith event. The Yearbook
calendar helps you avoid a conflict with Islamic, Jewish -
even holy days of other Christian streams.
The 1999 Yearbook of American and Canadian Churches is
published by Abingdon Press, Nashville, Tenn., and available
for U.S.$35 (including shipping) through the NCC's
Friendship Press (212-870-2496) and at local bookstores
across the United States and Canada.
