Graduates receive $23,000 in scholarships

NASHVILLE, Tenn.(UMNS) -- Ten students who have chosen careers as local
church Christian educators are recipients of the 1999-2000 John Q. Schisler
Graduate Awards.
	
Given by the United Methodist Board of Higher Education and Ministry's
Office of Loans and Scholarships, the scholarships total $23,700.
	
The grants honor the late John Q. Schisler, executive secretary of the
former Methodist Board of Education's local church division. Graduate
students receive the annual award on the basis of academic standing,
leadership ability, character, need, vocational goals in Christian
education, and commitment to Christ and the mission of the church.

The 1999-2000 recipients are:

*	Elizabeth Colley, Wesley Theological Seminary, Washington;
*	Duffy C. Connell, Asbury Theological Seminary, Wilmore, Ky.;
*	Judith Fender, Wesley Theological Seminary, Washington;
*	Dan L. Gray Jr., Duke Divinity School, Durham, N.C.;
*	Tracey Henderson, Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary,
Evanston, Ill.;
*	Gregory W. Lawton, Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary,
Evanston;
*	Karen Martindell, Methodist Theological School in Ohio, Delaware,
Ohio; 
*	Yvette Roselieb, Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, Evanston;
*	LaToya Wilson, Perkins School of Theology, Dallas;
*	Rita Yackley, Asbury Theological Seminary, Wilmore.
