ELCA BISHOP'S STATEMENT ON LITTLETON, COLO. TRAGEDY
99-106-JB
I join the nation in mourning the tragic shooting and murder of
students and teachers at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado.
Congregations, pastors and members of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in
America are praying for the comfort of all families affected by this
tragedy. Many congregations are seeking to be safe havens providing
places where all children can be free from fear and violence. The
psalmist says, "I lift up my eyes to the hills from where will my help
come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth."
The Rev. H. George Anderson
Presiding Bishop
Evangelical Lutheran Church in America
