Adventist Church Outreach Continues in War Zone
Goma, Republic of Congo. Despite ongoing violence within
the war zone, the Seventh-day Adventist Church is continuing
its outreach activities in the Republic of Congo.
"Of course the war is severely disrupting what we do," says
Jean Emmanuel Nlo Nlo, communication director for
Adventist Church in the region. "But over 2,000 have joined
the Church since the beginning of the year."
Seminars by satellite have continued, including ACTS 2000,
though the use of such high technology equipment attracts
suspicion from the warring factions. One such downlink site
was set up at a crossroads and many attended even there,
reports Nlo Nlo.
These outreach seminars were well attended in many areas,
both on the government and rebel sides, including Kinshasa,
Lubumbashi, and Kivu.
"These exciting programs are taped for future use," says Nlo
Nlo, "and we look forward to sharing our faith with many
more. We hope that the conflict will be quickly resolved so
that lives may be spared and the country return to peace."
