By Frankie Simpson, Synod Member

Anglican Church of the Province of Southern Africa

The House of Laity voted against a proposal to amend Canon 34 on
Holy Matrimony brought the Revd Rob Jobling of the Diocese of the
Highveld. The amendment called for dropping the interview
requirements before a divorced person could re-marry. After
extensive debate, mainly by bishops and clergy, the Bishop of
Natal called for a vote by houses. Testimony was given by a synod
member on how important the interview process was in his case.
The laity rejected the amendment.

BISHOPSCOURT
The traditional episcopal residence at Bishopscourt is to become a
wholly owned property of a CPSA Trust. A complicated legal
process will commence. The proposal passed unanimously with no
discussion.
