The Congregational Ministries Division has announced the appointment of
the Rev. Sharon K. Youngs as associate for promotion in the Stewardship
Program Area's Mission Interpretation and Promotion Program Team.
Youngs, who graduated from Columbia Theological Seminary, is a member
of West Virginia Presbytery. A certified social worker, she currently
works as a family counselor and therapist with the Family and Children's
Counseling Centers in Louisville. She will begin her work with the
Congregational Ministries Division on Nov. 8.
In her new position, Youngs will direct the promotional efforts of the
Pentecost Offering, which provides support for children at risk and for
youth and young adults in mission and ministry.
She has served the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in several capacities
at all governing body levels, including pastorates in Georgia and West
Virginia and the staff of Greater Atlanta Presbytery. Youngs also served
on the Presbyterian Hymnal Committee and has been a music leader for many
Presbyterian conferences.

The Presbyterian Publishing Corporation (PPC) has announced two key
staff appointments.
Marc Lewis, who has 25 years experience as a publishing executive, will
join PPC in the new position of general manager for marketing and
operations. He formerly served in a variety of positions with the United
Methodist Publishing House, most recently as vice president of marketing,
product management, direct sales and e-commerce for nine years.
David Dobson, former acquisitions editor for Bridge Resources and
Witherspoon Press in the Curriculum Publishing Program Area of the
Congregational Ministries Division, has been hired as editor for Geneva
Press, one of PPC's imprints. This is Dobson's second stint with the
publishing corporation, having served as an editorial assistant for
Presbyterian Publishing House before it was formally incorporated as PPC in
1993.

Dana Walker Butz has been named associate for stewardship promotion in
the Stewardship Education Team of the Congregational Ministries Division.
She will begin her work on Oct. 25.
Butz will help congregations, presbyteries, and synods discover and
make use of the resources and training provided by the team. She will give
direction to the use of electronic resources in stewardship education
particularly on the World Wide Web.
A graduate of Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, Butz comes
to CMD after several years as director of development for the Association
of Community Ministries, a Louisville area coalition of neighborhood
ecumenical ministries. She has also served as Director of Development for
Planned Parenthood of Louisville.

The Rev. Howard W. Edgar, 72, former Executive Presbyter of
Kiskiminetas Presbytery, died in Fort Myers, Fla., on Sept. 26.
Edgar was ordained to ministry by Pittsburgh Presbytery in1947. After
serving as pastor of Montour Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh Presbytery,
he served as presbytery executive for Clarion and Kittanning Presbyteries
from 1950 to 1958, after which he served as executive presbyter for the
newly-created Kiskiminetas Presbytery until 1976. He then served the
Presbytery as Stated Clerk and Minister-at-Large until his retirement in
1977.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Edgar, his daughter, Beverly Grady,
and four grandchildren, all of Fort Myers, Fla.

GeneviŠve Jacques, 55, an experienced ecumenist and member of the
Reformed Church in France, will become director of the Cluster on Relations
of the World Council of Churches (WCC) on November 1.
Jacques was previously an executive secretary in the WCC International
Relations Team. She succeeds Myra Blyth, who was appointed last April as
deputy general secretary of the Baptist Union of Great Britain. Jacques
was general secretary of the ecumenical aid agency CIMADE from 1988 to
1996, and from 1982 to 1988 was executive secretary for Human Rights and
Refugees with the World Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA).
Jacques' successor in the WCC International Relations Team is Elizabeth
Ferris, 49, who is a member of the Friends' General Conference of the
Society of Friends in the United States. She was a WCC staff member from
1985 to 1991 in the Commission on Interchurch Aid, Refugee and World
Service (CICARWS).
The newly appointed executive secretary for peace concerns is the Rev.
Deenabandhu Manchala, 40, of the United Evangelical Lutheran Church in
India. He is expected to take up his appointment in the WCC Justice, Peace
and Creation Team in March 2000.
The newly appointed regional relations secretary for Asia in the WCC
Regional Relations and Ecumenical Sharing Team is Matthews George, 40. He
will succeed Kyung Seo Park, who has returned to his native South Korea,
and it is expected that he will take up his appointment in March 2000.
George is a member of the Mar Thoma Syrian Church of India.
