NCC'S Web Site Will Feature 50th Anniversary News, 
Documentation, Audio & Photos
Link to Web Cast of Nov. 11 Installation of Ambassador Andrew 
Young as NCC President

 October 25, 1999, CLEVELAND, Ohio - Can't make it in 
person to the National Council of Churches' 50th Anniversary 
Celebration in Cleveland, Ohio, Nov. 9-12?  You'll still be 
able to participate via the World Wide Web.

 The NCC's Web site - www.ncccusa.org - features a section 
dedicated to the 50th anniversary, including full program 
information and an exhibit of historic photos.  During the 
course of the anniversary week, it will:

  launch a guest book, where visitors may share what they see 
as the ecumenical movement's great achievements over the 
past 50 years, along with their hopes and dreams for the 
ecumenical movement in the 21st century. 
  offer a daily "on-line newspaper" with full news and 
documentation, photos and audio clips from the anniversary 
week's events.  The first issue will feature quotes on the 
significance of the NCC's 50th anniversary from the NCC's 
General Secretary, the Rev. Dr. Joan B. Campbell, and from 
two who were delegates at the Council's founding convention 
in Cleveland in 1950: The Rev. Dr. J. Clinton Hoggard, an 
African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church Bishop, and United 
Methodist Bishop James K. Mathews.
  link to the "Web cast" of the Nov. 11 installation of 
Ambassador Andrew Young as the NCC's 20th President.  WCLV 
95/5 FM radio in Cleveland will broadcast the installation 
locally and "Web cast" it worldwide beginning at 8 p.m. 
Eastern time Nov. 11.  Listeners need to download the free 
audio player AudioActive and connect at www.wclv.com.  More 
information about the audio service and how to use it is 
available on the WCLV-FM Web site.
