	INDIANAPOLIS (DNS) -- The Office of Communication incorrectly reported in 
General Assembly News  that General Assembly Business Item # 9927 was not 
considered for lack of a quorum. 

	Item # 9927, Amendment to the Special Rules of Procedure for the General 
Assembly, was considered by the assembly.  It called for a smaller and 
modified  Assembly Program and Arrangements Task Force, designed to 
function more intentionally with other church planning efforts.  An 
objection to the measure asserted that #9927 was out of order, in that 
part of its wording would contradict The Design for the Christian Church 
(Disciples of  Christ).  

	The essence of the objection was that #9927 called for the appointment of 
members of a General Assembly Program and Arrangements Task Force. The 
Design says that members of this committee are to be "elected by the 
General Board on the recommendation of the Administrative Committee." 

	The objection was acknowledged, and a vote was taken. The business item 
was approved, pending a review of the objection by the assembly 
parliamentarian.  After the assembly was over, the parliamentarian ruled 
that Business Item #9927 was, indeed, out of order and the vote was 
invalidated.  

	The item will be referred to the Standing Committee on Renewal and 
Structural Reform for further consideration.  The committee will consider 
what future steps need to be taken to achieve the requested changes within 
the requirements of The Design.
