    New Mission Yearbook Is Available 
 
    2000 edition includes `Year of the Child' insert

LOUISVILLE, Ky.--The 2000 edition of the "Mission Yearbook for Prayer and 
Study" - the most popular guide to Presbyterian mission published - is now 
available. 
 
    The theme of the 2000 publication is "Whoever welcomes this child ... 
welcomes me." Luke 9:48) 
 
    As in years past, this 108th edition of the Yearbook features hundreds 
of stories and photographs of people in mission in the United States and 
overseas; minutes for mission that can be used in Sunday worship along with 
liturgical themes and programmatic emphases for each Sunday; prayer lists 
that include presbytery, synod and General Assembly staff as well as 
Presbyterians and their partners in mission around the world; daily and 
Sunday lectionary readings with suggested hymns; educational and 
theological institutions related to the PC(USA); maps and demographic 
information about the presbyteries, synods and countries where the 
denomination is engaged in mission. 
 
    Special features of the 2000 Yearbook include perforated pages for 
readers who want to remove pages to carry with them when they travel; an 
introductory essay that helps readers understand the PC(USA)'s theology of 
mission and how it undergirds the mission stories in the book; and a 
message and prayer from General Assembly moderator Freda Gardner. 
 
    This year's 16-page color insert highlights the upcoming "Year of the 
Child" mission emphasis, which runs from July 1, 2000 through June 15, 
2001.  The insert includes a statement about the church's commitment to 
children, photographs of children from around the world, artwork created by 
Presbyterian children and a Year of the Child hymn written by Jane Parker 
Huber.
