GENERAL EXECUTIVE COUNCIL
PLEDGES COMMITMENT TO NEW LIFE 2010
VALLEY FORGE, PA. (ABNS)—The national and regional
executives who comprise the General Executive Council (GEC) of the
American Baptist Churches USA have pledged their commitment to NEW
LIFE 2010, the recent initiative led by National Ministries and
adopted by the General Board. The initiative calls for the planting
of 1010 new churches, the reaching of 1,000,010 new believers, and
the vitalization of a multitude of congregations and ministries of
caring, by the year 2010.
During their final meeting of this millennium, the national and
regional leaders vowed “to allocate resources, respond to
opportunities, pray with expectation, and articulate faithfully the
vision of NEW LIFE 2010. Inspired by the enthusiasm of their General
Board representatives, American Baptist leaders have sensed a
powerful leading of the Holy Spirit that is unifying the denomination
to achieve the goals of NEW LIFE 2010.”
The GEC members noted, “While it will require the collective
effort of every American Baptist to achieve these goals, we feel that
the time is right for a vision that will stretch the horizons of
American Baptists.”
