In just two months, the once-in-a-decade religious communication congress
(RCC) 2000, will open its doors in Chicago to welcome hundreds of
communicators of religion. Joining the North American participants who seek
to communicate stories of faith and religion in a multitude of
media, will be participants from the four corners of the globe.
The interfaith steering committee for the four day congress has designed
the upcoming event to include not only participants from many North
American faith-traditions, but has sought to include overseas
representatives that tell a universal story of faith from around the world.
To this end, the Global Partnership Fund was created to award financial
grants to worthy young communications practitioners from outside North
America to travel to, and to participate in RCC 2000. Over 90 applications
were received from around the world seeking assistance from the Global
Partners Fund to help them attend RCC 2000. Applicants also submitted a
professional letter of endorsement from a work-colleague who knew of their
work and ministry in communications in their region of the world.
A small committee from the RCC 2000 Steering committee considered and
selected a final Global Partners list. The final list of names was then
submitted to select professional communicators in different regions around
the world for their endorsement and comment. The eight Global Partners
chosen by the committee are:
*Miss Alka Normal Prasad : India
*Mr. Michael Man Hon Cheung : Hong Hong
*Miss Kassa Mujinga Abele : Congo-Brazzaville
*Mr. Justin Ubaka Pungi : Kinshasha-Lenba-Congo
*Miss Maria Valeria Buquiere : Argentina
*Mr. Hector Hugo Hormazabel Pastenes : Chile
*Miss Maria tells C. Tirol : Philippines
*Mr. Ambrose Pereira : Solomon Islands
There is still time to add further Global Partners to this list. If there
are any agencies, organizations or individuals who would like to bring
overseas students, who at present, are in school in North America, to
Chicago, to attend RCC2000 - email Chuck Schsla eschisla@indianapolis.in.us.
RCC 2000 will be held at the Chicago Marriott Downtown March 29-April 1,
2000. The four-day communications forum will examine "Faith Stories in a
Changing World." Participants can save $50 by registering by January 10,
2000. So, register today! For more information, call (212) 870-2985 or
visit the congress website at http://www.rcc2000.org.
